Associate Professor
Wanty Widjaja

Project Lead

Assoc Prof Widjaja is the Associate Head of School (International & Engagement) for Deakin School of Education. She has extensive experience in building strategic research partnerships with researchers from regional countries in Asia such as Indonesia, Taiwan, Malaysia, Japan, and Singapore. She has been involved in designing and delivering a large-scale international project to adapt and implement Realistic Mathematics Education in Indonesia. She played a key role in designing and delivering professional learning in strategic priority areas of mathematics and STEM for cohorts of the Primary Mathematics and Science Specialists (PMMS) for teachers organised the Victorian Department of Education and Training (2022, 2019, 2018, 2015).

Ly Tran

Project Member

Ly Tran is a Professor in the School of Education, Deakin University. Her research focuses on international students across the school, VET and HE sectors, student mobility, the New Colombo Plan and internationalisation of higher education in Vietnam. Prior to coming to Australia, she was a lecturer at Hue university, Vietnam. Ly has published intensively on internationalisation in Vietnamese higher education, international student experiences, the international education-migration nexus and student mobilities and public diplomacy. Ly has been collaborating with a number of Vietnamese colleagues and universities on projects related to Vietnam. Ly has received a range of fellowships, prizes and awards for her research

Huyen Bui

Project Member

Dr Huyen Bui is currently a Transnational Education (TNE) and Partnership Manager, Deakin University, Australia. Huyen holds a PhD degree in Business from Swinburne University of Technology and a Master of Marketing from Monash University. Huyen’s career has developed at the intersection of academic and industry expertise in international education. Huyen is a highly qualified professional with over 15 years of experience working in international education in Australia and overseas with a strong track record in business development, especially in TNE and international partnerships. Her research interests include international marketing in higher education, international student acculturation, university support services for international students, international graduate employability and transnational education.

Bonnie Yim

Project Member

Assoc Prof Bonnie Yim is the Associate Dean (International & Engagement) of the Faculty of Arts and Education at Deakin University. Bonnie’s research interests include teacher education, child development, curriculum development and evaluation, cross-cultural studies, and engagement in learning. She is an active researcher and has published widely in these areas. She also undertakes research that focuses on positive outcomes of learners in the Asia-Pacific region through collaborative partnerships with Non-Government Organisations (NGOs) and philanthropic organisations. Bonnie serves on the Editorial Board for premier scholarly journals, and has participated in high-level international meetings and has undertaken consultancies for international organisations. She has received awards for learning, teaching, research and partnerships.

Bardo Fraunholz

Project Member

Dr Bardo Fraunholz is the Senior Manager, International Relations and Transnational Education at Deakin University. Bardo has published in national and international forums. He is also a member of several editorial boards and program committees, specialising in Project Management, Enterprise Architecture and Digital learning. Bardo spent several years in the Information Communication Technologies sector as co-editor and board member of a publisher specialising in IT and Telecommunication Magazines. Bardo has held several faculty positions such as course Director for IS and Business Analytics, Associate Head Teaching and Learning and more recently as university director for Career Education. Bardo was awarded several high-profile teaching awards such as the prestigious AAUT National Teaching citation.

Diep Nguyen

Project Manager

Dr Diep Nguyen completed her PhD in international education from School of Education, Deakin University and Master in lifelong learning from Institute of Education, University College London. Diep was an academic in a Vietnamese public university for nearly 10 years before embarking on her PhD. She is currently a project manager and research fellow at Deakin University and has worked in a number of research projects on various topics. Her work focuses on internationalisation of education, academic capacity building in international education, English medium instruction, student mobility, and graduate employability.
